In our last post, we discussed the basics of prepaid cell phone plans. We gave you some basic tips on how to compare prepaid cell phone plans. In the following lines, we would focus on the real aspect of comparing cell phone plans. If you still have no idea on how to compare prepaid cell phone plans, you can take some cues from here.

Before buying any prepaid cell phone plans, you have to assess your needs and more importantly, your budget.

  • Planning the budget

We can divide the people interested in prepaid plans into three categories.

  1. Occasional users
  2. Moderate users
  3. Extreme users

Occasional users

Occasional users are those who are not into the cell phone mania. They are not even interested in regular calls or texting. The sole purpose of buying a prepaid cell phone plan, according to them, is to stay in touch in case of any emergency. These people need the basic prepaid plans.

If they want to compare prepaid cell phone plans, they should only look for the call charges. These are pretty much equal as all companies offer the same base rates, on base packages.

Moderate users

People with ‘normal’ cell phone needs require a more active cell phone plan. They have to make calls on a daily basis besides the text messaging.

For them, a very basic plan would not do any justice. They need the limited service plans. Under these plans, the calling rates starts from $0.10 per minute. You can also call long distance within the periphery of United States.

Additionally, the refilling option is good enough to recharge your balance.

Extreme users

They need to talk, text, talk, MMS and again talk, all the time. For these people, the extreme users, the unlimited prepaid plan is the best.

This plan offers unlimited calling options for as low as $0.10 per minute. There is however a daily access fee that varies from $1 to $3, depending on the plan and carrier. The fee is only charged on days when you use this service (but will be charged daily for extreme users). All the perks including MMS, Internet and the company-related offers are valid on these plans.
