Bathrooms for the new millennium - Some important facts

Bathrooms, being an integral part of every home, is the place which is the most frequented and also most criticized. The reason for this apparent criticism is the ever changing bathroom decor and styles. People want to keep up with the latest trends and if they fail to do so; they feel bad.
Structural changes, both superficial and structural, in the bathroom construction and renovation gained pace with the dawn of the 21st century. Convenience and economy are two major aspects of the new bathrooms.
Convenience Factor:
An ideal bathroom should have a convenience factor incorporated in it. Older bathrooms are more focused on lavishness and a sense of heavily embellished place, even if the actual area is smaller. As a result, the whole area gives the look of a dingy hole or at best, a clown’s changing room.
The fixtures and bathroom structure is also unsuitable for the modern day living. Navigating through the heavy structures is itself quite a task. To curb these shortcomings, new century bathrooms are modeled on open spaces and added usability.
Economy:
This is the most important aspect of newer baths. While many comparisons can be drawn, the basic fact is that old bathrooms are like a hole in your wallet. You keep on spending money on them but still they consume a lot of energy and water; adding hundreds of dollars to your budget.
A study by American Water Works Association found that older toilets consume an average of 20.1 gallons of water per person, per day. This is a huge wastage and should be avoided at all cost. Same is the case with shower and other bathroom items.
The new millennium bathroom, on the other hand, has paid great attention to energy and water conservation. Using recycled materials like recycled sinks, counter tops and vanities are not only economical but are also good for the environments. Similarly, instead of installing dozens of bulbs to illuminate the place, its a better idea to have only a couple of energy saver lights.
